Names of I-95 crash victims in Johnston Co. released

SMITHFIELD, N.C. - State Highway Patrol has released the names of those killed and injured in a crash on Interstate 95 in Johnston County early Wednesday morning.

Around 3 a.m. Wednesday, a 2002 White Chevrolet Avalanche was traveling north on I-95 in Johnston County when it traveled onto the median and hit a guardrail.

The vehicle then crossed the median and into the southbound lanes where it collided with a 2014 Red Dodge Minivan.

The driver and a passenger of a 2014 Dodge Minivan were killed in the crash. Highway Patrol identified the driver as Michael Brennan, 32, of West Islip, NY. The passenger who was killed has been identified as Mark Klein, 35, of Surprise, AZ.

There was a third passenger in the van who has been identified as Kevin Hickey, 40, of Titusville, FL.

Authorities identified the driver of a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche as Johan Ramize, 59, of Kissimmee, FL. There were two other adult passengers in the truck and three children who were injured. The children are ages 8, 2 and 6 months.
