First Spring Scrimmage Rained Out at ECU

Posted: Updated:
GREENVILLE, N.C. - GREENVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina's first scrimmage of the spring season, scheduled for Saturday morning on Hight Field inside the Cliff Moore Practice Complex, was postponed because of inclement weather.

The Pirates will make up the intrasquad contest Monday afternoon as part of its established workout schedule and are in a position to add another session later to replace Saturday's washout if desired. Programs are permitted to conduct 15 practices during an allotted 30-day window, which for ECU began March 21.

"Quality work is more important than quantity work, especially with this group at this particular time" ECU Head Coach Ruffin McNeill said.

McNeill also said he doesn't immediately plan to deviate from Saturday's intended script of 50-60 plays for Monday's outing, which will be the Pirates' first in full pads.

Next Workout: Monday, March 31 (3:30-5:30 p.m., scrimmage last hour)

Remaining Workouts: April 2, April 4, April 5 (scrimmage), April 7, April 9, April 11 and April 12 (Purple-Gold Game, 2:30 p.m.)
