CARTER COUNTY, TN (WJHL) - One person is dead and two injured after a crash in Carter County Saturday night.

It happened around 7 p.m. on SE Highway 362 (Gap Creek Road).

According to a report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the driver, Joey Greenwell, 37, was traveling North on Highway 362 in a construction zone. According to the report, Greenwell was going too fast around a curve, drove across the other lane, off the shoulder and into an embankment.

According to the Highway Patrol, Greenwell was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the car. He died from his injuries.

The two passengers, ages 9 and 14, were injured in the crash. There is no word on their conditions.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol suspects alcohol and drugs may have been a factor in the crash and have ordered blood tests.
