Pinebluff man arrested for 2013 Southern Pines murder

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. -

Police in Southern Pines charged a 22-year-old man Friday in connection with an October 2013 murder on Turner Street.

Je’Core Rayshad McKoy, of Pinebluff, was charged with first-degree murder and two counts assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill/inflicting serious injury, police said.

Police said McKoy killed Maurice Donnell White on Oct. 27, 2013 at Leather Pockets Billiards.

McKoy faced a Moore County magistrate Friday for the charges related to the murder of Donnell. He is being held at the Moore County Detention Center until a bond hearing on April 22.

McKoy was arrested March 20 after authorities executed a search warrant on a residence in Taylortown.

McKoy faces charges of possession with the intent to sell/deliver cocaine, felony possession of marijuana, felony possession of cocaine, maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance, possession with the intent to sell/deliver marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a stolen firearm as a result of the search warrant being executed, police said.

He was held at the Moore County Detention Center under $60,000 after being charged following the execution of the search warrant.
