Lee County investigating residential burglaries

Posted: Updated:
OPELIKA, Ala. - Lee County authorities are investigating two residential burglaries that occurred Tuesday in northeast Opelika, the Lee County Sheriff's Department announced via Facebook Tuesday evening.

Around 6:15p ct, sheriff's deputies responded to a residential building alarm at a home on Lee Road 177. Responding authorities found two homes broken in to, according to the post. The initial investigation has determined that a suspect or suspects forced their way in to the homes between Noon and 2p ct.

"Evidence technicians were able to obtain evidence at the scene that may result in identification of the perpetrators," the social media post says.

Law enforcement did not provide an exact address for the homes but said they were north of US 29 North and south of Interstate 85 near the Shady Grove Church area of northeast Opelika.

The Lee County Sheriff's Department reminds residents to maintain accurate records such as serial numbers or photos of valuables. Residents are encouraged to report suspicious activity to the law enforcement.
