2 seriously injured in Raleigh head-on collision

RALEIGH, N.C. -

Raleigh police said two people sustained serious injuries from a head-on collision on Sunnybrook Road Wednesday morning.

Patrick Leon Evans, 22, was traveling southbound on Sunnybrook Road near Rock Quarry Road around 6 a.m. when he crossed the centerline and hit a dump truck head on, Raleigh police said.

Dwight Taylor, 48, was driving the Ford dump truck when it was hit by Evans’ 2000 Chevrolet sedan, police said.

Both men were seriously injured in the collision and transported to WakeMed for treatment, police said.

Raleigh police said the collision ruptured the fuel tank of the dump truck causing some diesel fuel to spill on the road.

Sunnybrook Road remains closed until the spill has been removed from the roadway.
