Millions worth of cars damaged at Hollywood Imports during Monday's flood

Posted: Updated:
VESTAVIA HILLS, AL - Clean up crews were hard at work across the area, cleaning up after Monday's flooding at the Vestavia Bowl, cutting down trees near Brookwood Medical Center and, at Hollywood Imports, cleaning up after water, mud and debris damaged all of the cars on their lot and much of the office space, as well.

During the storm, some of the cars at Hollywood Imports were picked up like toys and tossed on top of each other or into the creek nearby.

"Every single car was moved. In fact, the one that you saw in the creek was up front and pushed all the way in the back,” said Molly Fielding, vice president of marketing for Hollywood Imports.

The dealership has flood insurance and know they're in a flood zone but Fielding never thought it would get this bad.

"The owner, Micheal Schefano, received a phone call, was in total shock when he heard every car had been damaged,” she said.

Millions of dollars worth of cars are gone. The ruined cars have been moved to another location while the clean up process takes place.

"Back on this back side, [mud] was at least four to five inches thick and as the ground goes up two to three inches up there towards the road,” said Gregory Metzeger of Rainbow International Restoration and Cleaning.

But like everywhere else, Hollywood Imports is cleaning up and replacing their inventory to carry on business as usual.
