KKK fliers raise concern in Highland Springs

HIGHLAND SPRINGS, VA (WWBT) -

Sarah Leber has lived in Highland Springs for more than 30 years and for the first time she found a flier inviting her and her family to join The Loyal White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan.

"I think when you put fliers out like that in a community that is mixed like ours you are trying to cause trouble," Leber said.

Another neighbor living in Highland Springs is also upset about the fliers. she didn't want her identity revealed but says she was shocked that something like this would happen in the 21-st century.

"We are trying to live together as one. we have enough problems in foreign countries, we do not need a lot of foolishness in the United States," the neighbor said.

Many say they found the fliers in plastic bags early Thursday morning. Henrico police were called to north ivy avenue later that day and canvassed the area.

Police can't do anything about the fliers because they are legal, but Sarah Leber says it doesn't make it okay.

"They probably do have their rights but a lot of things that we have the right to do may not be the things we should do," Sarah Leber said.
