TAMPA, FL (WFLA) - News Channel 8 has learned Tampa police have charged 26 year-old Danielle Nichole Goeller in a deadly hit and run in South Tampa Friday night.

According to the affidavit, Philip Richard Barrett, 59, a pedestrian, was struck by a car at the intersection of West Kennedy Boulevard and South Tampania Avenue about 11:45 p.m.

The driver of a blue 2008 Volvo S40 headed east on Kennedy Boulevard slowed momentarily then sped away, authorities said. Barrett died at the scene.

An eyewitness called police. Parts of a car matching the vehicle the police said belonged to Goeller were found at the scene.

The affidavit states once police contacted Goeller she admitted to "something large hitting her windshield."

The affidavit also states Goeller told police she left the scene because she was "scared."

Goeller was arrested Saturday and booked at the Hillsborough County Jail on Orient Road.

Goeller is a nurse at Tampa General Hospital.
