Faded message in bottle found along Tampa Bay

Posted: Updated:

Almost everyone has imagined what it would be like to find a message in a bottle.

It actually happened Saturday to a Pepin Academy National Honor student participating in the Great American Cleanup, a nationwide event honoring Earth Day.

The student discovered a bottle with a faded note inside while picking up trash along the shores of Cypress Point Park in Tampa's Westshore area.

Inside was a heartfelt prayer by a Cuban wife and mother.

The message was written in Spanish. When translate to English, it read:

“I ask you this year for me, my husband and all my family. To prosper in this country and adapt and return to Cuba to share with all the family the best of all the world to my mother, my brother and his family, to learn English, have a car, a house, children and lots of blessings, good health and to continue to love my husband and myself, peace, joy, and love.”

The identity of the woman who wrote the message is unknown.
