Teacher pay report leaves teachers frustrated

Posted: Updated:
RALEIGH, N.C. - State lawmakers met Monday to discuss teacher pay proposals but some on the committee felt left out.

Teachers appointed to the N.C. Educator Effectiveness and Compensation Task Force expressed their concerns over the teacher pay plan to give new teachers raises. The plan leaves out others without a raise for several years.

Mecklenburg County Rep. Tricia Ann Cotham called the committee's report "a bit of fluff."

The committee decided to adopt the plan which gives a new timeline to raise teacher pay in 2016-2017.
