Augusta, GA -
Twitter fans in the CSRA shared in the excitement after the 2014 Masters Champion tweeted a selfie from Waffle House before leaving Augusta.
The Waffle House selfie gained nearly 16,000 retweets and more than 19,000 favorites.
Watson also made a stop in Steak ‘n Shake.Based on the Waffle House time stamp, that was his last stop.
“11:45 P.M. [I was] getting ready for close out, doing my money.I look up and I see Bubba Watson walking through the front door, like by himself,” said Seddrick Brown, Steak ‘n Shake manager.
This year’s Masters winner was spotted in at least two restaurants getting grub in the Garden City.He took a selfie at the Waffle House on Wheeler Road and took several photos at the Steak ‘n Shake on Belair Road near I-20, where he told a hard working staff busy attending to guests leaving the city his good news.
Brown said, “I asked him, did you win?He said yeah I won.I said really. He said yeah I did, by three. I said let me shake your hand again. He did.I said congratulations, what can I do for you?”
Although the restaurant is famous for steak burgers, Brown said Watson had a sweet tooth.
“He had a Butterfinger shake. One of his friends, we have something we make for the crew with strawberries and cookies.”
A receipt shows a total of six milkshakes, a variety of chocolate, banana and strawberries.Brandon Lopez had the honor of making the champ’s drink. He said this was no ordinary Butterfinger shake order, so he added a little extra candy.
“I recognized him because I worked there last year and I saw him last year.It was kind of cool.I didn’t think I would see him outside of the Masters Tournament area, but it was a fun experience,” said Lopez, who is a griller at Steak ‘n Shake.
While Watson carries star power, Brown said they probably will not name a shake in his honor. However, the Steak ‘n Shake manager is hopeful about one thing.
“Maybe he’ll make it a tradition he’ll come get a shake on his way out of town,” he said.
It was late, but customers were inside the restaurant.Brown said everyone, including staff was excited.
