DHHS meets USDA deadline to clear food stamp backlogs

Posted: Updated:
North Carolina is in the clear from government threats over pulling more than $88 million dollars in funding to the Department of Health and Human Services Department.

The USDA said today the state department met the March 31st deadline to clear its backlog of food stamp applications. At one point over 30,000 pending cases plagued the state.

Regional administrator Robin Bailey said the state will still be monitored for the next two months and expects to get weekly reports to make sure the department is staying on track.
