COLUMBUS, Ga. -

The family of an 8-year-old boy, who police say was tied up and assaulted in Peachtree Mall, pleading for the public's help after nearly two weeks with no arrest.

Police say the alleged incident happened Friday, April 4th inside a Macy’s restroom. Earlier this week, police issued pictures of a man, who they're not calling a suspect, but is wanted for questioning.

The grandmother, who's name we've concealed to protect her grandson’s identity, says she was with the child at the mall that Friday evening. She says she went into the ladies room and her grandson went into the men’s room. When she was finished using the restroom, she waited outside the men’s room.

“I pushed the bathroom door open and asked my grandson what he was doing. He yelled back, ‘Mama, help!’” she said.

The grandmother ran inside and saw him tied to the diaper changing station. The boy was tied so tight with the straps, that she was unable to get him loose, according to the grandmother. She says she ran outside the restroom and got a man to help untie him. The boy told his grandmother what had happened, including that the man placed his hand over his mouth to keep him quiet, said the grandmother.

Police haven't made an arrest, but have asked the public to help identify and locate a man wanted for questioning. Police say the man was last seen wearing gold-colored rim glasses. He is described as being between 30 and 40 years old, between 6'0 and 6'3 tall with neatly trimmed salt and pepper colored hair and mustache.

The grandmother says her grandson is still very shaken up about what happened and will have to go through counseling.

“My grandson, he was devastated. Very upset, I was too,” said the grandmother. “He's still upset, very upset.”

She pleads for anyone with information to come forward, so that no one else will have to experience what her family is going through.

“I'm waiting to get this pedophile caught, so he won't hurt anyone else,” said the grandmother.

If you have any information about this man wanted for questioning you're asked to call Columbus Police at 706-653-3400.
