RALEIGH, N.C. -

A new business is coming to Glenwood Avenue in Raleigh, but it's not the welcome news one might expect.

For years, a Ragazzi's Italian Restaurant occupied the lot a mile west of Crabtree Valley Mall; but since it closed, a pile of rubble has sat in its place.

That vacant lot -- which backs up to the Brookhaven subdivision -- will soon be vacant no more when Enterprise Rent-A-Car opens a used car lot in the space.

Last week, Raleigh City Council voted five to two to let the project move forward, saying Enterprise had fulfilled all the requirements and that city council could be opening itself to a lawsuit if it rejected the plan.

Neighbors, however, are concerned about the noise the business could bring, and what that could do to the values of their homes.

"We're all concerned about the quality of life in our neighborhood," Susan Clemmer said. "We're concerned about the resale value of our homes and what that does to our property values. I don't think any of that's been taken into account."

But Susan Clemmer's husband said he’s tired of the rubble and thinks Enterprise could be good for the space.

"I'm ready for something to happen and Enterprise seems to be coming to the table with a reputable situation," Dave Clemmer said. "It's the best thing I've seen in years."
