Louisa man identified as driver killed in Hanover

Posted: Updated:

Hanover sheriffs have identified a dump truck driver as a 70-year-old Louisa man.

William F. Powell of Mineral was killed in the crash around noon Monday in Hanover.

West Patrick Henry Road (Rt. 54) between Scotchtown Road and Pinehurst Forest Drive was closed for hours following the fatal crash.

Authorities said the dump truck was traveling west when it ran off the right side of the road. The truck, hauling a load of dirt, overturned and slid across the eastbound lane before coming to rest on the left shoulder. Hanover authorities said Powell died at the scene.
