4 NC GOP Senate hopefuls meet on stage for debate

Posted: Updated:
RALEIGH, N.C. - Four of the eight Republican candidates for the U.S. Senate in North Carolina are meeting on the same stage for a live debate two weeks before the May 6 primary.

Greg Brannon, Heather Grant, Mark Harris and Thom Tillis were scheduled to participate in the one-hour event Tuesday night on the campus of Davidson College. The debate is being aired by Time Warner Cable News and is co-sponsored by The Charlotte Observer and The News & Observer of Raleigh.

It's the first live TV debate for the campaign. The same group of candidates is scheduled to hold a half-hour debate Wednesday evening at WRAL-TV in Raleigh.

The Republican primary winner is expected to take on Democratic incumbent Kay Hagan in November.
