A high school senior at Cherryville High School in Cherryville, NC says she was kicked out of her prom for wearing, red skinny jeans.

Shafer Rupard, says she was on the dance floor with her friends when a teacher tapped her the shoulder and asked her to leave.

The prom was held two weeks ago at the Cherryville Golf & County Club. According to Rupard, the teacher said she had a problem with the pants she was wearing.

Rupard's mother, Shawn McQuaige said her daughter wanted to wear clothing she was comfortable in and feels the red jeans were acceptable. McQuaige approached school officials to get a straight answer on why her daughter was dismissed from the dance.

"We looked in the student code of conduct book and there isn't a dress code at all," said Rupard about Prom dress. Her mother went as far as showing the school's assistant principal the Gaston Schools code of conduct and the prom invitation.

But she says she hasn't yet received an apology or a response from the school's principal who she emailed last week.
