Lincoln County man accused of choking Chihuahua

Posted: Updated:
LINCOLNTON, N.C. -

Sheriff's deputies in Lincoln County accuse an 18-year-old of choking his mother's Chihuahua because it was barking at him.

The sheriff's office said when deputies answered a call about a domestic dispute, 18-year-old Jason Tyler Hildebran was holding his mother's dog. Investigators said Hildebran's mother was trying to retrieve the dog, but deputies said Hildebran refused to give it to her. The dog wasn't hurt.

Hildebran was arrested after Monday's incident and charged with one count of cruelty to animals. He is free on $1,000 secured bond. A phone listing couldn't be found for Hildebran, and it isn't known whether he has an attorney.
