DURHAM, N.C. -

Durham police have issued a crime alert after someone stole an officer’s uniform and other police gear.

Police said the officer’s home was broken into Tuesday and the thief took uniforms, a Taser and other police gear as well as a puppy, jewelry and electronics.

The intruder did not take the officer's badge or weapon, police said.

All Durham Police Department employees are required to carry City-issued photo identification. The Police Department recommends that anyone who is unsure about an officer’s identity ask to see the officer’s photo identification.

Anyone with information is asked to call Durham CrimeStoppers at 919-683-1200.
