Fort Bragg colonel relieved of duty following investigation

FORT BRAGG, N.C. -

The U.S. Army announced Wednesday a colonel has been relieved of his command following an investigation into misconduct.

Division Commanding General Maj. Gen. John W. Nicholson Jr. relieved Col. Patrick Hynes of his command of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, the Army said.

Hynes was relieved because the Army said it lost confidence in his ability to command.

Lt. Col. Albert Paquin, commander of the 2-319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, will take a temporary command of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team.

The Army said it chose Col. Joseph Ryan to succeed Col. Hynes as the brigade commander before the investigation. In July, Ryan is scheduled to take command of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team.
