Posted: Updated:

The motorcyclist killed Tuesday evening in a Fayetteville crash has been identified as a paratrooper from the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg.

Police officers in Fayetteville identified the victim as Samuel Alberto Rosado, 27, of 178 Northview Drive in Sanford. On Thursday, it was revealed that Rosado was a sergeant and a multichannel transmission systems operator-maintainer with 2nd Battalion, 319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team.

The accident happened around 7:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Officers said Rosado was driving his 2000 Suzuki motorcycle away from Fort Bragg on Murchison Road when he entered the intersection near Shaw Road. Rosado struck a 2014 Ford traveling in the opposite direction, which was driven by Katisha Jean McArthur, 31, of 1508 Shaw Road in Fayetteville.

Rosado died at the scene. McArthur was not injured.

Rosado joined the Army in July 2009 and was assigned to Fort Bragg in December 2013.
