Man dies after Columbus police chase

COLUMBUS, Ga. - A man is dead after he crashed his motorcycle during a Columbus police chase early Monday.

Jerome Morse Jr., 46, was riding a motorcycle and fleeing from police when he crashed into a utility pole on Schaul Street near Lawyers Lane around 1a et, Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan confirms to WRBL News 3. Morse died of blunt force trauma to the chest.

It was not immediately clear why police were chasing Morse. The crash remains under investigation.
