BIRMINGHAM, AL - The second victim in a fatal multiple-vehicle pile-up on a Birmingham interstate last week has been identified.

The crash happened around 8:00 p.m. Thursday on Interstate 20/59 near the Arkadelphia Road exit.

Colleen Shields, 39, of Warrior and Vester Richard Cranford, Jr., 58, of Birmingham were both killed in the crash.  Shields was driving a Hyundai Sonata, and Cranford was in a Lincoln Navigator. Two other people were taken to the hospital with injuries.

Investigators say a vehicle traveling westbound crossed the median and hit another car traveling eastbound. The remaining vehicles crashed as a result of the initial impact.
