Judge Approves $1.6M Cleveland Park Settlement

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. - A judge on Friday approved a $1.6 million settlement in the Cleveland Park miniature train accident case.

The March 2011 accident in the Spartanburg County park left one boy dead and more than two dozen others injured.

The families and victims received different amounts depending upon the extent of their injuries and medical bills.

The parents of Benji Easler, the 6-year-old boy who died in the accident, received $275,000.

    Officials with Greenville Police say that shots have been fired at the Law Enforcement Center leaving one officer injured and the suspect dead.The shots were fired into the front doors and also in the parking lot of the center located on McGee St.Interim Chief Mike Gambrell said they believe a homicide on Augusta Court is connected to the LEC shooting. The incident on Augusta Court is believed to be domestic.
