NC Senate's budget takes away Tryon Palace funding

NEW BERN, N.C. -
The General Assembly's mulling a budget proposal which could force job cuts at Tryon Palace.

The state senate's budget proposal cuts $400,000 in funding to the historic site of the first governor's home.

It's a move the governor says he opposes.

The palace is stuck waiting to see what the state House of Representatives will do to their funding.

"This is a huge part of a child's education," Andrea Ostvik, a tourist from Canada, said. "This kind of learning is priceless."
