Greenville 8th grader to play at Carnegie Hall

Posted: Updated:
GREENVILLE, N.C. - An eastern North Carolina eighth grader is on his way to playing at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

In March, cellist Patrick Byrum was selected for the 2014 Middle School Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall.

Byrum will travel to New York for five days of instruction and site seeing that will culminate with a performance in the Honors Junior Orchestra at Carnegie Hall.

"I didn't really expect it. It was a surprise. To have a new experience going somewhere and playing music," said Byrum.

Byrum is a member of the A.G Cox Orchestra studies music with Meredith Hall.

Byrum’s performance at Carnegie Hall is scheduled for June 28th.
