New Bern veterans getting help

Posted: Updated:
NEW BERN, N.C. - Veterans in New Bern are getting some help through a veterans Stand Down.

It was held at the Veterans Employment Base Camp and Organic Garden at n Park.

The stand down is a informal one-stop shop to meet other veterans and get information on resource available to them.

Tuesday's stand down featured several military, civilian, and non-profit organizations who offer veteran services in the Craven County area.

Veteran's Garden Executive Director Lovay Wallace-Singleton says this is what the garden is all about.

"[It] brings most of the resources in one place, so even if they just come over to the Veterans Garden to get information, we will be here," said Wallace-Singleton.

Singleton says they hope to have more stand downs in the future.

The garden is set to get up and planting in the fall.
