US Open tee times for 11 golfers with NC ties

PINEHURST, N.C. -

The 2014 U.S. Open will have 11 local North Carolina players competing in Pinehurst No. 2 when play begins Thursday.

Webb Simpson, a native of Raleigh and a former Wake Forest University standout, will tee off Thursday at 7:40 a.m. from hole No. 1.

Brendon Todd, a Green Hope High School alum, will tee off at 8:02 a.m. from hole No. 10 when the Open begins.

Garth Mulroy, who played at N.C. State, will begin Thursday at 12:30 on hole No. 1.

Former Duke University players Kevin Streelman, Ryan Blaum and Joe Ogilvie will also be in the field. All three players will tee off on Thursday from hole No. 10. Streelman will tee off at 2:09 p.m., Blaum at 2:20 p.m. and Ogilvie at 12:52 p.m.

Ogilvie will tee off in the same pairing with former ACC rival Mark Wilson, who played at North Carolina.

Two other Wake Forest University players, Bill Haas and Darren Clarke, will also be competing in the Open.

Haas, who was born in Charlotte, will tee off Thursday from hole No. 10 at 1:03 p.m. Clarke will tee off at 1:36 p.m. from hole No. 1.

Chad Collins, who played at Methodist in Fayetteville, will begin his run in the Open from hole No. 10 at 6:56 a.m.

Brendon De Jonge, who lives in Charlotte, will tee off at 1:14 p.m. on Thursday from hole No. 10.
