Deputies arrest man for home invasion, shooting

NEW BERN, N.C. - Deputies say they’ve made an arrest in a home invasion, which left the owner of the home shot in the stomach.

It happened around 2 a.m. Friday at a home on S. West Craven Middle School Road in New Bern.

They’ve arrested and charged Quaishawn Tyree Wilson with first degree burglary, robbery w/a dangerous weapon and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. During a search of Wilson’s residence, they found a stolen firearm.

The victim in last week’s incident, 38-year-old Leo Mitchel, Jr., is in good condition after being shot in the stomach. He was already on the way to the hospital when deputies arrived on the scene.

Deputies say the investigation is ongoing for a possible second suspect.
