DURHAM, N.C. -

Police have arrested a suspect in two assaults that occurred on the American Tobacco Trail earlier this month.

Durham police arrested 17-year-old Justin Sturn Tuesday, who is charged with simple assault, common law robbery and felony conspiracy.

He is being held under $75,000 bond, police said.

Police say Sturn is the suspect in two separate assault on the American Tobacco Trail on June 5 and June 6.

On June 5, police say a bicyclist was riding south on the American Tobacco Trail from Otis Street toward Fayetteville Street when he was punched in the face by the suspect.

And on June 6, police say some trail users were walking north east on the American Tobacco Trail behind Hillside High School, when a group of males approached them and asked to use a cellphone. When one of the male victims refused to give them his cellphone, the suspects jumped on him, assaulted him and stole his book bag that contained his cell phone and iPod.
