PINELLAS COUNTY, FL (WFLA) - Deputies tell News Channel 8 the drowning of a young boy in the Bay Meadows Apartment complex appears to be accidental.

They responded to 13705 Feather Sound Circle East, Unit 303, around 6:40 p.m. on Tuesday.

According to investigators, the Anantharaman family noticed that 3-year-old Ayush was no longer in the apartment, and went looking for him.

His father, Ajit Anantharaman, found him floating in a lake after fifteen minutes of searching. Firefighters tried to revive the boy, but he was pronounced dead at All Children's Hospital.

Detectives from the Sheriff's Crimes Against Children Unit are investigating, but detectives say the death appears accidental.

Neighbors came home Tuesday night to find crime scene tape, sheriff's deputies and media.

Gene Trailor says he rushed home after hearing deputies were at his complex. He is shocked a 3-year-old could wind up in the lake.

“I never expect something like that to happen in this little lake here," Trailor said. "But you never know."
