Alabama, Auburn, Georgia put players on Maxwell Award watch list

Posted: Updated:

Alabama, Auburn and Georgia all had players on the Maxwell Award watch list, released on Monday.

The award is given to the best offensive player in college football.

Alabama put four players on the list: quarterback Jacob Coker, wide receiver Amari Cooper and running backs Derrick Henry and T.J. Yeldon.

Auburn had a pair, the two expected to be offensive stalwarts: wide receiver Sammie Coates and quarterback Nick Marshall.

Georgia had just one, but he was a good one: junior running back Todd Gurley, looking to bounce back after an injury-plagued 2013.

Alabama’s AJ McCarron won the award last season.
