FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. -

A community in Fuquay-Varina is hoping to add a little extra support for a new home being built for a wounded warrior.

Cpl. Nathan Jakubisin was selected to receive a newly-built, mortgage-free home from PulteGroup and Operation Coming Home.

As part of the construction process on Wednesday, local employees, contractors, family and friends wrote "notes of love" on the frame of the house to show appreciation for his service.

The messages were written on beams in the attic, which will stay exposed so Nathan and his family can read them whenever they want.

Jakubisin graduated boot camp in 2011 as a combat engineer and was deployed to Afghanistan in January 2012. Hee suffered severe leg and hand injuries from an improvised explosive device while conducting patrols in the Helmand Province.

A Purple Heart recipient, Jakubisin is a native of Cambridge, Ohio and enjoys playing the drums, snowboarding, and extreme sports in general. He, his wife Marli and their son Mason will be moving into their new home in the fall.
