Amtrak train hits unoccupied vehicle in Cary

CARY, N.C. -

 A Charlotte-bound train hit an unoccupied vehicle Thursday in Cary, Amtrak confirmed.

Train 79 hit the vehicle around 6:35 p.m. but the train did not sustain any damage, Amtrak said.

The occupant of the vehicle jumped out before the collision.

A total of 238 passengers were on the train at the time of the incident, Amtrak said.

No one was hurt.

The train was back in service by 7:30 p.m.
