Canes promote three in front-office staff

Posted: Updated:
RALEIGH, N.C. -

The Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday announced that three members of the team’s front-office staff have assumed new roles and responsibilities with the team.

Darren Yorke is entering his sixth season with the Hurricanes and will assume the role of Assistant to the General Manager/Video Scout. A native of Milton, Ont., Yorke has served as the team’s video scout since 2009, using television broadcasts of professional and amateur games to assist management in personnel decisions. During his tenure with Carolina, Yorke’s responsibilities have increased to include player evaluations with hockey management, and he has led the team’s scouting meetings for the past two seasons. Prior to joining the Hurricanes, Yorke interned and worked for the Buffalo Sabres for two seasons, and spent one year with Canadian sports network TSN.

Mike Sundheim is entering his 15th full-time year with the Carolina Hurricanes and will assume the role of Vice President of Communications and Team Services. Similarly, Kyle Hanlin, who is entering his 15th year in the NHL, and 13th full-time year with the Hurricanes, will assume the role of Senior Director of Communications and Team Services. With their promotions, Sundheim and Hanlin will take on travel and team services responsibilities in addition to their long-time media relations and communications roles.
