OPELIKA, Ala. -

An Opelika man is behind bars Saturday charged with drug trafficking. On Friday July 18,2014, the Lee County Sheriff's Office arrested 35 year  old Roger Lardrell McCullough for Trafficking Marijuana, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana in the first degree and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

The charges are the results following a traffic stop conducted by a Lee County Sheriffs' Investigator on Columbus Parkway in Opelika, Alabama after observing the driver committing a traffic violation. The Investigator smelled a strong odor of raw marijuana emitting from inside the vehicle while following the driver. A search was conducted of this vehicle which was a 2008 Ford F-150 pickup truck and the search revealed a quantity of marijuana and cash. Roger McCullough was identified as the driver of the vehicle. Lee County Investigators recovered evidence that led them to executing a search warrant at a hotel in Auburn that was being rented by the suspect. A search conducted of this hotel room led to the seizure of additional marijuana and cash. There has been a total of approximately 4 pounds of marijuana seized and more than $14,000.00 in cash has been seized in this case. This case is still under investigation.

If you have any information about this case or any other case, please cal the Lee County Sheriff's Office at 334-749-5651 or Lee County Crime Stoppers at 1-888-522-7847.
