Twitter pages show NC college binge drinkers passed out

Posted: Updated:
RALEIGH, N.C. -

Binge drinking is not a new problem on college campuses but there is a new way people are seeing its impact.

Twitter pages are popping up at college campus around the country for the sole purpose of showing students passed out from drinking too much.

One night of hard drinking or one too many drinks could lead to a photo that thousands will see.

North Carolina State University senior Drew Warash not only looks at photos of students passed out drunk on the "Wolfpack Passout" Twitter account, he posts them, too.

"I don't go out of my way to do it, but if I'm ever downtown or out in public and see somebody passed out, I usually snap a photo or a friend will do it and then they'll try to post it up," Warash said.

He said there is lesson in public humiliation.

"Hopefully it will teach them a lesson. Maybe they can learn how to hold their alcohol a little bit better and won't be in that situation again," Warash said.

It is something he knows firsthand.

“Just happened to drink a little too much alcohol that one night, but it taught me a lesson, honestly. I didn't want my picture to be up there. It looked kind of stupid,” he said. “So, it kind of just taught me to slow down, more or less."

He said some people get angry because they may look dumb on the Internet, others take it as a badge of honor.

“They drank a bunch of alcohol and somehow didn't die. Then, others laugh it off like it's nothing and continue doing what they're doing," Warash said.

The Wolfpack Passout Twitter account has more than 3,500 followers.
