Citizen tackles suspect in Farmville police chase

FARMVILLE, N.C. - A Farmville resident tackles a suspect trying to flee from police.

The incident happened around 6 o’clock in the evening on Saturday, July 26.

Witnesses tell 9 On Your Side that a suspect was running from police, when he ran a stop sign at the intersection of Wilson and North Green Streets in Farmville.

Witnesses say, while going through the intersection the suspect hit a woman driving a red SUV. The accident knocked out a fire hydrant, and the suspect’s car ended up in the middle of a field.

The suspect then tried to run. A concerned citizen saw him running through his yard, chased him down and tackled him. Police arrested the man shortly after.

Witnesses say the woman who was hit by the suspect appeared to be okay.

Farmville Police say at this time the investigation is ongoing, and have not released a name of the suspect.
