Update:

A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed in federal court in Greeneville stemming from a fatal crash in Hawkins County earlier this month.

The suit seeks damages from the death of Ashley Lawson, 18, Mooresburg, who was killed Aug. 5 in a head-on collision between a tractor-trailer and the car she was driving along Highway 11W in Hawkins County.

Injured in the crash were passengers Jordan Stiles, 19, and an 8-month-old child.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Ion Hazapariu, 60, Texas, was trying to make a left turn onto Sneedville Pike, realized the turn could not be made and turned back around. That is when the crash happened.

The suit names Hazapariu and his employer, Yes Express, Inc., as defendants.

The suit was filed by Jennifer O’Connell on behalf of Jennifer Lawson and specifies damages for physical pain, emotional suffering, health care and funeral expenses, loss of lifetime future earnings and other items.

The names of those involved in a fatal crash in Hawkins County Tuesday afternoon were released in a preliminary crash report by the Tennessee Highway Patrol Wednesday.

According to Tennessee Highway Patrol, a southbound tractor trailer traveling along 11W Tuesday around 2 p.m. was trying to make a left onto Sneedville Pike.

Reed said the tractor trailer driver realized he could not make the turn and turned back around, where he crashed into a car head-on that was heading northbound.The female driver of the car, Ashley N Lawson, 18, of Mooresburg, was killed in the crash.

Lawson's two passengers, Jordan Clark Stiles, 19, and an 8-month-old child were injured in the crash.

The driver of the tractor trailer, Ion Hazapariu, 60, of Luling, Texas, was not injured in the crash.

According to a preliminary THP crash, charges are pending in the crash.

A woman was killed and two others were injured in a crash on Highway 11W in Hawkins County Tuesday afternoon.

According to Tennessee Highway Patrol Sgt. Carl Reed, just before 2 p.m. a southbound tractor trailer traveling along 11W was trying to make a left onto Sneedville Pike.

Reed said the tractor trailer driver realized he could not make the turn and turned back around, where he crashed into a car head-on that was heading northbound.

A woman, the driver of the car, was killed. A male passenger, as well as a 6-week-old infant, were both injured. 

According to Reed, the infant was flown to UT Medical Center and the male passenger was taken to Holston Valley Medical Center for treatment.

The tractor trailer driver was not injured.

Reed said charges are pending in the crash.

News Channel 11 has a reporter on the scene of a fatal crash between a tractor trailer and a car on Highway 11W in Hawkins County.A Rogersville Police Department officer on scene said it was a fatal crash and said it took place near the intersection of Highway 11W and Highway 66 in Rogersville.

Tennessee Highway Patrol is at the scene of the crash.
