15 Chikungunya cases reported in NC

GREENVILLE, N.C. - There are now 15 reported cases of the mosquito-borne virus, Chikungunya in North Carolina.

The Centers for Disease Control reports 500 cases across the U.S. this year and an average of 30 cases per year, for the last 7 years.

All but 2 of them contracted the virus outside the United States, mostly in the Caribbean.

The virus, which has no vaccine, causes symptoms such as fever and joint pain. But is not deadly.
