High School preview: Greeneville Greene Devils

Posted: Updated:
Greeneville has become "Title Town" on this end of the state,  after winning back to back state championships in 2010 and 11, and making deep runs into the playoffs the last two seasons.

This year's version of the Greene Devils are  expecting to make the trip to Cookeville again this year, but they are going to have to do it with out four all-state players lost to graduation.

When the program won their back to back state championships, they ran the ball very effectively, and to bring home another state title they are going to have to rely on pounding the rock.

According to Head Coach Caine Ballard, "We return a lot of guys up front offensively and defensively so we'r going to rely on the line of scrimmage...and you know I am comfortable with that. I am a coach that believes you gotta win the line of scrimmage you know to throw it around and make big plays here and there is great...but I like to be in control of the clock."

"We have pretty much all of our line back and we have a good back and then we'll run the ball and get a good pass going.", said Quarterback Lincoln Bowman.

"I expect us to run the ball a lot more..we had a really good quarterback in Zach last year and this year with our experience and size up front we pretty much have to run the ball...I mean we have been pretty succeful at it so far.",says Tackle Wilton Chapman.

The Greene Devils open the season on August the 29th at home against Morristown West.
