Arrests near 100 as NC coastal drug crack down enters new phase

BEAUFORT, NC -  Eight more people have been arrested in the 8th phase of a drug crack down that continues along the North Carolina coast. 

In May, Carteret County Sheriff Asa Buck and District Attorney Scott Thomas announced the first round of arrests in the undercover drug operation called “Operation Pill Crusher.”

Since that announcement, deputies have rounded up nearly 100 people in Phase II, Phase III, Phase IV, Phase V and Phase VI, and Phase VII of the operation. 

The program is an effort to target criminal suspects who have been engaged in the illegal sales and diversion of prescription medication and other illegal drugs in Carteret County.

Those charged in the latest phase of “Operation Pill Crusher” include:

• 2 counts – Possession with intent to manufacture, sell, & deliver marijuana
• 2 counts – Sell and deliver marijuana

Bond: $1,500 secured
• 1 count – Simple possession of Schedule II controlled substances
• 1 count – Simple possession of Schedule VI controlled substances
• 1 count – Possession drug paraphernalia

• 1 count – Simple possession of Schedule II controlled substances
